VR enthusiasts are all rejoicing in the feast of premium quality VR technology advancements, both in hardware and content, in the past few months. We sit like knights on our couch (surely our throne) and enjoy the stupefying dramatic VR experience, get unapologetically drunk in its fervour and still ask for more! And the best part is that we are not disappointed at all.

Last December, Indian VR market had two new monsters, one a dragon Mi VR Play headset and another, AuraVR Go with the Indian tiger spirit. Rarely do we see a fiery flying monster fighting the striped yellow ‘king’ (I know it’s lion, tiger is still a close relative) of the jungle.

Let’s fight them here with their latest addition in respective arsenal.

Design & Features

 Mi VR Play Headset

AuraVR Go

Made from soft lycra material gives it a smooth finish and perfect ventilation. The two-way zipper to enclose the front panel keeps your precious smartphone secured and the rubber pads inside does not let it skid either way when you move your head enjoying 360 degree content. The two openings in the front aids in much required mobile heat dissipation and does not block the sound. But, you face difficulty in plugging-in charging, headphones or other jacks to your mobile.

AuraVR Go is plastic made with unique open case design, which facilitates easy mobile heat dissipation and free space to plug in jacks in your smartphone. Volume control is also within reach. The silicon studs hold the mobile phone firmly in place and prevents any scuff mark on screen.

Lens Quality

The lens quality is similar in both, what differs is the lens lens adjustment.

Being adjustable sideways to interpupillary distance, AuraVR Go can be worn by anyone, irrespective of their face contours. The lenses can go to and fro too providing a Field of View of 100-110 degree. What is unique about the lens adjustment is that it is unique to each eye.

Pupil Distance Adjustment: 57.5 – 67.5mm

Focus Distance: 41 – 47mm

Comfort level

Mi VR Play Headset

AuraVR Go

When you are enjoying VR world, what makes it more fun is the comfort level. The weight, material and headstrap all matter in this. Mi weight is 208.7gms, lighter than iphone 6! The fabric is soft around the eyes and the T-headstrap is elastic and comfortable. The lycra is super comfortable around the eye area.

AuraVR Go’s weight is incredibly just 148 gms!! Infact you don’t feel like wearing it, it’s the weight of your smartphone that makes it heavier. The T-shaped straps are comfortable to wear and evenly spread the VR headset weight around your head. The cushion around eyes is especially made to avoid sweat around the eye area. Additionally, it does not let external light enter the FOV.

AuraVR Go

Mi VR Play Headset cannot be used by people with vision issues. Since there is no lens adjustment mechanism, only those who fit in their standard definition of VR users, can wear it. The silicon button makes user interaction with smartphone in VR headset easier.

The best features about AuraVR Go is light feather-like weight and lens adjustment. It is literally a universal VR headset, from school going child to an adult, with or without glasses, anyone can wear this. The clicker here also smoothens the user interaction with smartphone in VR headset.
