The charm of VR in art is the incredible power it gives you to ‘walk through’ the paintings and become one with the fantastical world the artists create with their brush strokes. Google stunned the world with its Google Tilt brush using which artists create their masterpiece in space. The Google Arts & Culture house such amazing artwork from artists around the world.
Last year, a museum in Florida, Salvador Dali Museum held an exhibition for its visitors to experience being transported in the painting and move around in VR recreated world. Now, the museum has teamed up with VR content platform Inception to allow art fans worldwide to try out the experience.
The ‘DREAMS OF DALI’ is available for users of the Google Cardboard, Google Daydream, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Samsung Gear VR, The experience is focussed around Dali’s painting, Archeological Reminiscence of Millet’s “Angelus” and allows viewers to enter into the painting to explore the towers and explore the world created by the famous surrealist.
“We hope that Salvador Dalí, known in his lifetime as what we now call an ‘earlier adopter’ of new technology, would applaud this homage to his 1935 painting,” said Kathy Greif, Chief Marketing Officer for The Dalí Museum.
Putting Dreams of Dalí onto the Inception app has enabled every VR and art lover to appreciate the ethereal art work of the artist in every corner of the globe.
