A feast for all the VR enthusiasts is being prepared at the sterling land where dreams are said to turn to reality – Amchi Mumbai! 

India’s biggest VR Film Festival #VRatMAMI is going to be held as part of the celebrated Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival. The two day event, October 22-23, 2016, is curated by U.K. Dasari, Ishita Gandhi and Shakun Batra, the director of the movie, Kapoor and Sons. 

The VR Film Festival  will have two main events:

  • Samsung Gear VR Lounge on 22nd and 23rd of October 2016 (11 am to 8 pm) at Bal Gandharv Rang Mandir, Bandra.

A lavish treat of well known VR films and documentaries from across the world.


  • A panel discussion on ‘Is VR the future of Storytelling?’ on 23rd of October 2016 (11 am) at Bal Gandharv Rang Mandir, Bandra.

    The eminent panel consists of the pioneers of storytelling in VR :

  • Gabo Arora : Filmmaker and United Nations Creative Director. UN’s ’s first virtual reality app, UNVR, was launched with his ‘Clouds over Sidra‘ as one of the four VR films. His other major creations are ‘My Mothers Wing‘ , ‘Waves of Grace’.
  •  Anand Gandhi:  The mentor of the Memesys Cultural Lab that has  co-joined this futuristic technology to storytelling on reel. Right to Pray, India’s first VR narrative documentary has been featured in prestigious Toronto International Film Festival this year. The Lab is coming up with a dedicated studio for VR enabled films soon. He is renowned for his most known for his debut feature film Ship of Theseus, which won the National Film Award for Best Picture and swayed the global audience at Film Festivals across the world.
  • Raja Koduri: Vice President and Chief architect of the AMD Radeon Technologies Group and Makuta VFX. He has more than 20 years of experience in visual computing including PCs, game consoles, professional workstations and consumer devices, and across the content ecosystems. He is literally THE EXPERT when it comes to technical part of the VR/AR technology. With his ‘BB360’ camera, he is the man behind Bahubali VR.
